Happy Halloween for SUO Challenge #160

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted on my blog! Holy smokes...time sure does fly by! I have been creating up a storm for some Christmas card classes and have an upcoming stamp-a-stack using the adorable Cookie Cutter Christmas set on November 10 - I hope you can join me!

I've used oodles of new products from the Holiday catalogue for my project today which I am also submitting to a challenge blog, SUO Challenges, #160 where they ask participants to make a Fall-themed card. To me Halloween is the epitome of Fall, and while I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween, October IS my favorite month! First of all, it is my birthday month and secondly, I love the beautiful fall colours! I'm also a fan of the cooler days, warm sweaters, and Pumpkin Spice everything!!

Products Used:
Paper: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Pumpkin Pie Glimmer
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Archival Black, Smoky Slate, Elegant Eggplant
Stamps: Cookie Cutter Halloween, Spooky Fun
Tools & Accessories: Stampin' Sponge, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies, Big Shot
The Cookie Cutter Halloween set also coordinates perfectly with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, as does the stamp set we are using in my stamp-a-stack. See that little skeleton's bow tie? It's the yummy Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper punched out using the same punch. So cute!! I used Elegant Eggplant and a sponge to create the spooky night sky.

Don't forget - today's the last day for the spectacular deal on DSP:
Head over to my online store to take advantage of this sale!

Have a fabulous week!

Washi Thanks

I love washi tape...I don't know what to do with it most of the time, but the fun patterns and versatility make me want it! It sticks to anything - I recently covered the frame of a cork board that I purchased at a yard sale that had a few blemishes in it, and it went from ewww to ahhh!!! I needed to whip up a few quick thank you cards for customer orders tonight so I pulled out my Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape and some Whisper White notecards; in no time at all I had half a dozen cards ready!

Once you open your package of washi tape it's easy to forget which rolls came together. Purchase some metal shower curtain rings from your local dollar store to keep them together! You could even attach a label or piece of paper to record the name and coordinating colours! It's so much easier than searching the catalogue and then your basket or container for the coordinating rolls!

The first "Thanks" I cut out with my regular base plate and cutting pads with the Big Shot but it had those paper "hairs" all around it (know what I mean??!), AND I ended up ripping the word when I was punching it out of the cardstock. I decided to try my Precision Plate (#139684) the next time through the Big Shot - what a HUGE difference - I was very impressed! The word separated from the cardstock super easy and no "hairs"! Just make sure you run your word thinlits through lengthwise and not "straight on" for a superior cut.

So get that washi tape out and use it - put it on everything!

Have a fabulous week!

Bonus Days!

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted on my blog! I was away for a few days, then I came down with a terrible cold/flu that took me out for nearly 2 weeks, then I had company visiting from out of town for a few days. A Colour Challenge...Take 2

As I mentioned on Saturday, my up, upline Kristine challenged us to come up with a card using Emerald Envy, Island Indigo, and Daffodil Delight as well as incorporate a piece of the new Ruched Ribbon in Emerald Envy into our creation. It really had me stumped - I couldn't seem to get past the "masculine"-ish colours and my mind drew a blank! I eventually threw some some Watermelon Wonder into the mix and the ideas came much easier! Here is my Take 2 at the challenge:
I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits and the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits to complete this card. I also used Blushing Bride ink and cardstock as well as So Saffron ink (under the Daffodil Delight flower). I was much happier with my second creation. Which one is your favorite?

Happy Stampin'!

Swirly Bird Flies a Kite

Every month my up, upline Kristine holds a team meeting and always sends us away with a new card challenge. This month we were challenged to use some of the new In Colours....I got Emerald Envy along with Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight. I also had a piece of the new Ruched Ribbon in Emerald Envy to incorporate in there! I found it very challenging to say the least, but eventually, after I added in some Watermelon Wonder, things started to come together for me!  I pulled out my new Swirly Bird stamp set and Confetti Celebration and came up with this card:
The Swirly Bird set is photopolymer so it makes lining up the triangles for the kites a cinch! I wasn't totally in love with my first crack at the challenge so I came up with another card using the same 4 colours....I will come back with that card in a couple days!

It's supposed to be a beautiful sunny weekend here in Calgary - a perfect day to fly a kite! Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Flamingos Are In, Who Knew?!

I didn't realize it until Stampin' Up! released their catalogue sneak peek, but Flamingos and Pineapples are HOT right now! Since noticing them first with Stampin' Up! last month, I have been seeing them everywhere lately - on t-shirts, home decor, bags, you name it.... once again SU is on trend! They have their very own market research team who study trends with fashion, etc. to help guide new In Colours and catalogue products! Fun, huh?!

Just one of the perks of being a demonstrator is seeing the new catalogues before anyone else and being able to order new products first! I recently took part in a swap with other members of my team using products from the demonstrator preorder, and incorporated 3 of the stamp sets we were able to get before the catalogue was officially released June 1. The Flamingo is from the Pop of Paradise stamp set, the gold embossed swirl is from Swirly Bird, and the sentiment is from Confetti Celebration! The DSP you see is also new and is from the Pop of Pink DSP pack Keeping with the heart theme, I used a couple gold hearts from the Metallics Sequin Assortment which were carried over from the last catalogue. Thank you to Robyn Cardon for the idea of embossing the swirl in gold - I love how it turned out and was super simple!

Birthday Convertible

I got the Beautiful Ride stamp set for free when I attended Stampin' Up's OnStage Local event in Edmonton last fall, and it is not carrying over into the new Annual Catalogue coming out June 1. Yikes - can you believe that's only 3 days away?!! Where has May gone?! Seriously...it's scary how fast time goes sometimes!

I decided to make the punch buggy a convertible by just snipping off the roof before I watercoloured it on Shimmery White paper with my Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist, Mint Macaron, and Hello Honey with my aquapainter. It came together really fast, although now that I see it again, I think I made the "windshield" a little short! Oh well....makes it unique, right?!
The balloon punch is also retiring in a couple days and comes in a trio with a cupcake punch and birthday candle punch - so adorable! The thick baker's twine was a freebie from last year's Sale-A-Bration, when you could get it free in all the 2014-2016 In Colours. The background paper is from Going Wild....also retiring in 3 short days!

Contact me before June 1 to scope up these retiring gems before they're gone forever or shop in my online store 24/7 by clicking the link over there --->

Have a wonderful week!

Feel Goods for a Friend and Fab Friday 87!

I loved the sketch over at Fab Friday and thought I would give it a whirl! A friend of mine recently graduated from the licensed practical nurse program, and I thought I would send her a congratulations card to celebrate! I immediately grabbed my Feel Goods stamp set - I thought the sentiment was perfect for a woman who found the courage to go back to school with 2 young kids and a supportive husband at home. I hope she likes it!

Feels Goods is retiring at the end of May as is the Pretty Petals DSP stack and the 2-1/2" Circle Punch I used here! Hurry over to my online store to get yours before they're gone!
